I migrated from mac os Tiger to Leopard now I’m stuck in timezone GMT what to do?

So I recently received a new laptop and with that migrated from mac os Tiger to Leopard, everything went extremely well and fast but then someone pointed out that even though the time in my menu was correct, the timestamp for my mails and files was not. I tried changing the timezone in Date & Time settings but that would not stick.

I googled and shortly found a very lengthy and to me confusing post explaining the problem: Tiger stores the time settings in a folder whereas Leopard seems to use a symlink.

The very short instructions to fix this:

  1. Start terminal
  2. Type: sudo … Continue Reading

Cats..

We used to have this nice white kitty, clean, cute, but most of all white.

Clean kittie

You got the picture right?

Nowadays we have a garden and he’s allowed outside, suddenly we no longer have a nice clean white kitty anymore but something more like a dirty moggie.

Dirty moggie

We’re desperately in need of kitty shampoo… (and an animal friendly way of stopping him to like the underside of cars so much)

Best tea cosy ever ;)

Is your cat plotting to kill you?

Arrff!

A while ago I ordered a do it yourself kit for what I believed was a stuffed animal in the form of a dog. However when the package arrived I noticed it was a japanese design and had a function: a pot holder..

Anyhow some pics of my (completely guided) creativity:

btw: did I say it’s completely hand made, no machine sewing at all? :)

bredemeijer rulez!

My parents and brother got me this Bredemeijer tea set for my birthday:

It contains a teapot and a “tealight” as shown, and 2 cups. Since I didn’t have anything in this style, anything with a “tealight” and I’ve always wanted a Bredemeijer to add to my collection I was really happy with it to start with. (even if I would have only put it in a glass cabinet and never used it)

However today I decided to give it a try and my god do I … Continue Reading

Cat cuteness

Recently I started working in the study again, not working there was mostly due to quite a mess and the fact that we needed to install a new windowsill. Since the new windowsill is quite a bit bigger than the old one I’ve taken to put my laptop there whilst it is connected to the bigger screen and keyboard on the desk, so far not very interesting.. :)

Sofie who is the shyest cat in our household loves to sit near to me while I’m working, thus she has taken to sitting in the windowsill watching me work. Right in front … Continue Reading

kadootje!

Because of our 2-year anniversary and my upcoming birthday  :)

Dove catching :)

Around our appartment complex we have quite the population of doves, add some cats and the problem would be solved you’d say. Unfortunately the doves are just smart enough, they will sit just out of arms reach and as soon as out of arms reach turns to into arms reach they flee.

This morning there was a particular good example of this, of course we took some pics:

Toolbox

As some of you might know I’ve worked in customer care / technical helpdesk for over 5 years. I’ve always enjoyed this very much, which usually surprises people because they think a call center is a hell on earth, but I feel that talking to people and helping them to solve problems is a great job, the reward I get from helping people is a very good one. I seem to be blessed with good social skills, a pleasant voice and a certain knack of being able to calm (angry) people and getting them to explain what bothers them, which obviously made me good at the job and made it so rewarding for me. If your constantly confronted with angry people you can’t calm or help, that’s very frustrating to any person and doesn’t make the job enjoyable.

However when you’re working in a problem – solution environment only social skills don’t get you there, you need to have a certain toolbox. Continue Reading
